Encouragement for You: Is It Wrong to Expect From God?

If you’ve ever wondered whether expecting something from God is wrong, this encouragement is for you. Sometimes we’re taught to pray quietly, hope gently, and expect very little—so we don’t feel disappointed. But the Bible shows us something different. God invites you to come to Him with expectation rooted in faith, not fear.

“Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.” — Psalm 9:10

Expecting from God is not arrogance. It is trust. When you expect God to move, provide, guide, or comfort you, you are acknowledging who He is faithful, present, and loving. The issue is not the expectation itself, but where your expectation is placed. When your hope rests in God’s character rather than a specific outcome, expectation becomes an act of faith.

This encouragement is for the woman who feels hesitant to hope again. You may have prayed before and felt disappointed, or waited longer than you expected. But God is not offended by your expectation. He is honored when you seek Him, trust Him, and believe that He cares deeply about your life.

You are allowed to expect peace when you pray. You are allowed to expect guidance when you seek wisdom. You are allowed to expect God to show up—not always how you imagined, but always in love. Expecting from God does not make you weak or entitled; it means you believe He keeps His promises.

So expect, but rest too. Trust Him with open hands. God has not forgotten you, and He is still working on your behalf.
